WOW! I can’t believe it’s been 4 months since my last post. I’m still here, even though I have not had much time to paint or blog. I moved my studio late in the summer and most of it is still in boxes. I’m working on unpacking… very slowly!

I’ve been thinking of the ocean and the beach lately. I can’t believe that we’re already halfway through July! Time is flying by. So much so that I didn’t even realize that my Blog’s 5th Anniversary came and went on June 19. Five years is a big deal for me, so I am kind of bummed that I missed it. No need to wallow… onward!
So much has happened in the last 5 years. My work has been sent to at least 32 US States (they really love me in Texas and Nebraska!), and several international locations – France, Scotland, England, Australia, Canada, Ireland.
I’ve made many friends in fellow artists and art collectors alike.
I’ve had 2 babies, and my first baby isn’t much of a baby anymore. Even with all the day-to-day busyness, art has been more present than it has ever been in my entire life. I am so grateful for that.
Last year I did a free painting give-away to celebrate, and I would like to do the same this year. So, for the next week or so (until July 19th) anyone interested in being entered into the drawing, please leave a comment on my blog letting me know. You can leave it on this post, or any post you’d like. There are lots, so check out the archives.

Art in the Park 2011
Wow! I can’t believe it’s been almost a month since I’ve posted a painting here! Life has been very busy – exhausting, but all wonderful things.
I hope to get into the studio tonight to work on a couple little paintings for Art in the Park this weekend.
Yes, Art in the Park is here again this Saturday from 10 – 5 PM at the historic Congress Park in downtown Saratoga Springs, NY. This is my fourth year participating, and I am eager to see what this year brings. The weather is supposed to cooperate, so I’m hoping for a great turnout.
I am also now able to accept instant credit card payments, which should be better for sales – I am told. If any other artists out there need info on how I am able to do this, please let me know. I’d be happy to share.
If you’re in the area, please come spend the day strolling through beautiful Congress Park while viewing some beautiful art. There will be over 70 seventy exhibiting artists, who work in a wide variety of media. Plus, I would LOVE to see you.

I’ve been trying to balance life to find more time in the studio. It’s been a challenge getting into the right groove. Yesterday was a good day – I got a couple little pastels in during nap time!
This is one of them – my version of Carol Marine’s submission for the DPW Weekly Challenge – The German Landscape. I really liked the strong light in the photo, and I think I captured it pretty well here. I may try the other later today during nap time.

Help Japan Challenge – DPW Auction

The theme this week for the Daily PaintWorks challenge is “home”. The “Help Japan Challenge” has been set up with an auction to encouraging artists and art lovers to aid in the relief efforts in Japan.
I’ve decided to contribute this painting which depicts a road that I often take to my home. My heart goes out to all the people displaced by this catastrophe, and I hope this donation can help some of them find their way home.
The proceeds (minus S/H and processing fees) raised by the sale of this piece will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross to aid in their relief efforts. Once the sale is complete, and the donation made, I will send documentation to the buyer for their records.
I’ve set the starting bid well below the retail value of this painting at $85 to encourage bidding.

Sue is a former colleague of mine, and one of the sweetest most sincere people I’ve ever met. She is afflicted with Primary Pulmonary Hypertension and will require lung transplant surgery. Sue and her family are committed to fighting this very debilitating disease. Unfortunately treatment is very expensive, and the family needs help to cover the enormous costs associated with a major medical procedure, family travel and lodging expenses.
